Sew Foxy Designs
As a young girl I learned to sew with my great-grandmother Anna Ruby, a tailor and seamstress who taught classes for many years in Leominster, Massachusetts. She instilled in me a love for fabric and design. I made my first dress when I was eight years old. To this day I can’t cut out a pattern without hearing her reminders about placing the pattern on the grain of the fabric and using double tailor tacks.
After thirty years of teaching, I now have the opportunity to devote time to my sewing. For years my sewing machine was “hiding” in a closet. Now with renewed energy and enthusiasm I am working with fabric again: Gram would be proud!
Sew Foxy Designs is my small business specializing in creating handmade totes, backpacks, purses, clutches and other carry-alls and containers. The majority of my projects are my own designs, but I will use purchased patterns on occasion. I’m an experienced seamstress and have an in-depth knowledge of sewing, skilled with a needle and an appreciation for sewing a straight seam. Selecting the right colors, matching fabrics, threads, buttons, and other embellishments are my strengths—in other words attention to detail.
